Skin preparation before makeup is a MUST if you want your makeup to really look flawless.

I have an advantage as a makeup artist because I am also an esthetician, and I have STUDIED the skin. That is why I have gave myself the title of "Skin Prep God" because I believe I have curated the perfect line up of products to give you a smooth, long lasting, but glowing base.

Skin preparation is not hard, but is important. If you have dry/dehydrated/flaky areas, it will attract more foundation and powder there, resulting in looking cakey. The smoother and more hydrated the skin is, the better.

Cleansing and Exfoliating

I use the Vivier Skin Medicated Wash, and the Eminence Stone Crop Exfoliator.

Cleansing is very important for not only prep, but for your skin health in general. Before your makeup, cleanse all the dirt, oil, and impurities from your skin, to leave a fresh base for your artist. Exfoliating can remove old, flaky skin leaving you with smooth as a baby butt type of skin. I'm not kidding.

Masking

Your skin needs a drink!! Using a mask a few days prior to your appointment will boost your skins hydration, as well as elasticity. If you live in Saskatchewan like me, the weather here can be very drying and harsh on our delicate skin. Keep your skin from feeling dry and tight with a mask. (literally almost any mask works, if you aren't sure, just look at the ingredients. If alcohol is in the first few lines, it is a NO!)

Moisturizers and SPF

La Roche Posay moisturizer and Eminence SPF is what i use, and they do wonders!

Moisturizing is just as important as the others. When moisturizing, your creating a barrier on your skin to help protect, and hydrate your skin. It will give more vibrancy and life to your face. A glow if you will.

Happy client, and happier artist!

Keep in mind that coming to a makeup artist for a service, doesn't mean we can give you plastic surgery. We cannot change your skin, we can only enhance! The way your makeup will look, comes down to YOU and how you take care of your skin. So take care of it!
